Who Are We ?
In the 1950s a small group of people with big hearts took a giant leap of faith and opened St. Mark's Thrift Store. In its early years, the store enjoyed modest success. It was during this time that they developed a model for giving back to those in need in our community.
In 2011 that leap of faith came to fruition as the store was relocated and reborn as the hello, Goodbuy store. Now open six days a week with a paid and volunteer staff, the mission remains the same: to return ALL proceeds in excess of operating expenses to the Golden Isles Community.
What Do We Do ?
We encourage local 501c3 certified Non Profits to make funding requests by completing an application. We review these applications and distribute funds quarterly. In addition to this funding program, the store donates items to individuals and families in need on a daily basis.
Since opening in 2011, the store has also developed a voucher system partnership with local Non Profits, such as Amity House, FaithWorks, and Safe Harbour, through which individuals and businesses can donate on their behalf for store credit. This allows these groups to send targeted individuals to the store to get anything that they need - from clothes, furniture, bedding, to household necessities.
As of January 2015, over $170,000 has been presented to fund community projects for more than 60 organizations including Manna House, Hospice of the Golden Isles, Pull for a Kid Inc., No Kill Glynn County and the Salvation Army.
